Riverside Recreation
Bonding City with Nature
The primary goal of Chattahoochee Riverside project in Columbus, Georgia is to blend the natural environment (Chattahoochee River) with an urban area. The designed spaces in the riverside aim to bring health and happiness to the people and nature. The barrier between this site and the adjacent community is the lack of accessibility to the riverside. This design resolves the problem by walkable slopes and hills. The other challenging issue in the site relates to contaminated urban stormwater which flows into the river. This design includes two detention ponds to collect and filter the stormwater before releasing to the river. The eco-friendly hills and slopes make it an extraordinary place to view the river and its riverside. This pleasant scenery attracts visitors to relax and walk on the curvey walkways and hills. The designed green roof also provides a remarkable space for the visitors.
Floating on the lake
The primary goal of Smith Lake project in Birmingham, Alabama is to improve the people interactions with the lake. Smith Lake has a quite small artificial beach which provides insufficient spaces for the visitors. This project aims to increase the extent of usable spaces and to improve the people activities in the site. To achieve these goals, a floating trail is designed on the lake. Walking on this trail is an impressive experience for the people because of a distinctive viewpoint to the vast water body. Moreover, the floating seats dipped in water emulate the floating sense of swimming by lowering the visitor's eye level to the water surface horizon.
Sustainable community
The primary goal of Dauphin Island Highway in Mobil peninsula, Alabama is to improve the quality of life within the community. Flooding is a challenging issue on the site. Lack of entertainment, outdoor activity, and work opportunity for young residents are other issues of the community. The designed landscape rearrange the land uses to distant the community from the flood zone. The design supports small businesses, facilitates and creates new work opportunities by providing a vendor space within the site. This design attracts people from other neighborhoods to visit the site and use the entertainment facilities
